I was so excited to buy a new pressure cooker after retiring one that was 18-20 years old. I read many reviews and felt that Fagor was a good brand. I have used it about 8 times and only had the steam valve actually work once! I have read the directions over and over and done everything it says. There is enough water, the valve has been checked and cleaned for obstructions, and then I also have turned the heat on high trying to get it to steam. That's when everything burns. The first 7 times I used it, there was steam coming out of the handle (and yes, I oiled the seal in the lid)so I thought maybe that was where the steam came out. The yellow button pops up, saying there is enough pressure in there so I let it go.
I have had roasts in there for 45-60 minutes and they are tough as shoes leather or still pink in the middle. My old cooker (which I am sick that I threw out) cooked them to perfection. Now I am stuck with this pressure cooker that I will never use because I am tired of getting ready to serve dinner, only to find out the meat is not fully cooked or edible. What a huge disappointment!

I purchased the Fagor Duo 8-Quart Pressure Cooker on the recommendation of a friend I respect. I made a glorious stew the first time I used it. The second time, I tried to make rice, using the instructions in the booklet. I sat next to the stove, timing how long it would take to come to pressure (information I insert in recipes). I waited and waited. Turns out the orange pressure indicator had melted. This, on the second use of the cooker.

I called the 1-800 number listed in the booklet that comes with the pressure cooker. When I told my story to the woman who answered, she said she'd send me a new part (to replace the part requires disassembling the handle using a Philips Head screw driver) as a one time courtesy. From now on, I'd have to purchase a replacement part.

I said, What about the ten-year warranty. She said that was only on the metal parts of the pressure cooker, not on the handle, not on the pressure indicator. Having a ten-year warranty for metal is like having a ten-year warranty for a rock -- it's a relatively useless warranty.

The first woman I spoke to suggested that it was my fault -- that I'd had the flame beneath the pot on too high. I have a gas stove, and their instructions say to place the cooker over high heat. I asked to speak to a supervisor. She had the same story -- handle, etc., not under warranty. She said this doesn't happen very often. But it happened to me the second time I used the pot, following their directions.

Good customer service? Maybe. If I was running the show, I would have asked me to send back the pot so their engineers could determine if it malfunctioned. I would have sent me a new pot. But no.... So, buyer beware.

Heavy duty pan, food cooked in it has been excellent. It may become my favorite kitchen pot/pan. I feel very safe using it as it has good safety features. Time saving is a very big factor and food comes out so tender and tasty

I am pleased with my new stainless pressure cooker. It was delivered as ordered. However the gasket was cracked on purchase. Gasket is working. I plan to purchase a new one to be on the safe side.

I would highly recommend this pressure cooker. It's easy to see that it is extremely well constructed and manufactured. An enclosed DVD explains its use and demonstrates several recipes that can be created. I would strongly recommend getting a slightly larger ( I purchased the 8 quart) pressure cooker since you shouldn't fill it more than 3/4 full. Also enclosed is a cook book with some recipes however I purchased Miss Vickie's Big Book of Pressure Cooker Recipes through Amazon that just about covers it all.
