Cooks lighter meals, healthier, fast and easy. 3 to 10 times faster than ordinary methods - faster than a microwave. Chicken, fish, vegetables and more cook to perfection in minutes. Tenderizes leaner cuts of beef and pork. New ergonomically designed handles.
Pressure cookers have experienced renewed popularity over the last several years because cooks have rediscovered what some cooks (particularly grandmas) have known for a long time--they're really fast. And it's easy to cook healthfully with pressure cookers, since the food retains so much more of its nutrients and flavor. Presto's 4-quart stainless steel pressure cooker is a multi-purpose pot that can stand in as a conventional saucepan as well as perform the kitchen magic that pressure cookers are famous for. Chicken Cacciatore cooks in 8 minutes! This professional-quality stainless steel pressure cooker is a handy addition to any well-rounded set of kitchen tools.

The heavy-duty lid locks down during cooking; an inner sealing ring keeps the steam in. In addition to a pop-up pressure indicator and a simple steam release mechanism, there is an overpressure plug that will let off steam if it builds up excessively. This pressure cooker is useful for weeknight dinners or for any meal that needs to come together quickly. An accompanying booklet contains more than 65 recipes, ranging from basic soup stocks to stews and pot roasts--even desserts like 5-minute custards! Tenderize lean cuts of beef or pork; or cook chicken, fish, or vegetables faster than you can in a microwave, and without losing moisture.

Nonabrasive cleansers are best for cleaning this stainless steel pressure cooker, though occasional use of a fine metal polish will help the exterior keep its shine. The Presto 4-quart pressure cooker is fully immersible; in addition, the sealing ring should be removed after each use to allow cleaning of the inside rim of the lid. The vent pipe is simple to keep clean with a small brush or pipe cleaner, and both the air vent/cover lock and the overpressure plug are removable. The pressure cooker measures 9 inches in diameter (16-1/2 inches including handles) and 6-1/2 inches tall (including lid). Presto guarantees this pressure cooker with an extended 12-year warranty. A detailed instruction and recipe booklet is included; special safety issues that pertain to pressure cookers are clearly explained. --Garland Withers

 "A great pressure cooker" 2010-07-11
By Washinton, D.C. mom
This is a great pressure cooker so far. It is my first pressure cooker, so I didn't know what to expect. The 4-quart is perfect for a meal for 2 or 3 people. It had to be assembled, but it was very easy to do.

 "Love this Presto!" 2010-05-08
By J. Graves
This is my second Presto pressure cooker. Previously I had a much bigger aluminum one to go with my much bigger family. I loved using it, but it was much too large. I found the 4-quart just right and have used it A LOT since it arrived. I have not had any of the problems getting the lid on that other reviewers mentioned. I am very happy with the cooker. I think Presto makes a really high-quality product.

 "Good Quality" 2010-04-22
By Y. OGGEL (Bonita Springs, FL)
I've had several pressure cookers. This one is easy to handle, good quality, and so far so good in terms of stains. I read the instructions, and follow them to the letter. Love my pressure cooker.

 "I love this cooker" 2010-04-16
By L. S. Miller (USA)
this is a wonderful cooker. The size is great for 2 or 3 people but I would get a larger one for more people. Everything comes out tasty and the meat are tender in such a short time. The only problems I had were in the beginning. I thought you needed to keep the pressure regulator jiggling to cook the food but if you do that the heat is too high and it burns the food so turn the heat down once it starts jiggling. Also be careful when you wash the lid. If the pressure plug gets caught the steam escapes and you think the cookers not working and the food will burn because you cook it too long or have the heat up too high.

"Great pressure cooker but Fagor is better for a few more bucks" 2010-04-13
By Naveen Narula (Alpharetta, GA, USA)
I have both Presto and Fagor pressure cookers. Both are well engineered and do their job well. I personally prefer the Fagor for 3 reasons
(1) Fagor has a steam release setting, which releases steam safely, regardless of the existing pressure. There is rarely a need to run the cooker udner cold water for rapid cooling. To rapidly release steam in a Presto, one has to prop up the top cap and manually let the steam escape. This can be dangerous if not done carefully.
(2) Fagor cookers are a lot quieter. The hiss of escaping team is barely audible. Not so for Presto.
(3) As an earlier reviewer has commented, Presto is not suited for cooking rice. I have done that by immediately reducing the heat as pressure builds up, just a minor irritant. Fagor cooks rice just fine.

The Presto is still is well designed cooker which will give years of great service. It also has cheaper replacement parts than Fagor. All in all, since Fagor is only a few dollars more, I prefer a Fagor.
